"Kate is everything you could possibly wish for in an agent."

Alice has been writing stories since she was 6 years old, and the quality of them has improved slightly now she no longer uses felt tips.

At university she studied English and learnt to speak Viking, before becoming a children’s book editor and author of the hilarious World’s Worst Alien duology, described by Waterstones as “a wild and witty ride”.

She is yet to find a use for her Viking skills.

THE WRITERS WHO MOST INSPIRE ALICE

There have been many writers who’ve inspired me in ways big and small, but I always remember the first time I read Jonathan Stroud as a teenager. I borrowed his Bartimaeus books from a friend and they opened my eyes to how funny and engaging a playful narrative voice could be.

HOW ALICE BECAME KATE’s CLIENT

Some things just feel like they were meant to be. Kate was number one on my agent wish list, and highly recommended to me by a friend. I sent her my manuscript and received in return probably the best email I’ve had in my entire life – Kate had immediately connected with my humour and what I was trying to do with my writing. We met for lunch – I was very nervous, but I didn’t need to be. It was immediately clear that Kate was not only a fantastic agent, but also a lovely person who would be a lot of fun to work with!

ALICE ABOUT KATE

Kate is everything you could possibly wish for in an agent: enthusiastic, warm, knowledgeable and – most importantly – she has a fantastic sense of humour. Putting your writing out in the world can be a nerve-wracking experience, but with Kate in your corner it feels like anything is possible.

KATE ABOUT ALICE

Alice’s writing is terrifically funny, playful and really in tune with children today.  I particularly enjoy the way Alice blends a relatable contemporary comedy with a touch of magic. She makes me laugh so much – both in her writing and in real life – and I feel so fortunate that she picked me, out of any others, to be her agent.
