THE WRITERS WHO MOST INSPIRE MARTIN

When I write for younger readers I draw on Marcus Sedgwick’s work – from his middle-grade gothic comedies to the claustrophobic thrill of YA reads like Revolver or White Crow. For adults, I admire Tana French’s superb Dublin Murder Squad sequence, and I’m also indebted to Louise Welsh, a writer of darkly fascinating thrillers set in grubby, glamorous underworlds.

MARTIN ABOUT KATE

Kate’s energy, enthusiasm and professional insight have been invaluable. She has such an impressive clarity of vision and her measured and thoughtful advice and feedback have been such a help. She’s a joy to work with!

KATE ABOUT MARTIN

Martin is a stunning writer. His characterisation, pace, plotting and prose are pitch perfect.  His exceptional skill is to combine a great concept with a cracking story and believable characters.
